Miss America State and Local Directors – The Information You Need
A number of state and local Miss America pageant directors have reached out to the PageantCast asking why the “Miss America 2.0” press release is not on our site.
Well, it isn’t pageant news. In the past, it has been a joke when MAO has stated it was “not a pageant, we’re a scholarship organization.” It was a joke since it SO CLEARLY WAS A PAGEANT. This is no longer the case. They have gutted the system by most reports so when they now say it isn’t a pageant, at long last, they are telling the truth. This is actually kind of fresh for Miss America which has not been entirely forthcoming about a lot of items ranging from emails with their CEO, individual state issues and the overall scholarships offered. (I’d link to John Oliver again here, but why bother? You’ve all seen it.)
However, since I know the national organization has not supplied information to many of the states and nearly all the locals, I think you have a right to see the press release…but not on my site. In fact, I’ve taken down all past MAO press releases as of last Thursday due to the MAO 2.0 proclamation. I will not be supporting their ticket sales and DVD sales and Christmas ornament sales as I have in the past. If they don’t want to be a pageant, a site named “PAGEANTCast” doesn’t need to help them. MAO has always been impossible to work with (even when my home state representative became Miss America, I was barred from interviewing her despite numerous requests and even paying to attend Homecoming. I’m sorry, but we don’t need to support MAO if they don’t want the support.
We are not, unlike MAO, going to abandon their past titleholders proud pageant tradition. The interviews I’ve recorded with Miss America local and state titleholders will remain on the site and we may even re-issue past interviews from time to time. Outside of these references, we will be staying away from MAO.
If any Miss America state or local directors would like a copy of the press release they didn’t even send you, though, feel free to contact me at submit@pageantcast.com and I will gladly send you the press release so you can see it for yourself. Frankly, the interviews online contain more content, probably because they didn’t want to put everything in writing and want an escape route in case this doesn’t work out.
I want the state and local directors to know, you are really in charge. If you don’t send candidates to Nationals, their system is through. Without the incredible efforts of the volunteers and directors at the state and local levels, there is no Miss America. Many of you need to weigh your options…and you do have them. Perhaps you could move on to Miss International, Miss United States, Miss Earth or other similar pageant systems. Perhaps you simply remove the Miss division from the mix and simply stay with the Teens. Here at the PageantCast, we will be happy to get you the information we have and the contacts to make informed decisions.
This also goes for the contestants that are overwhelmingly disappointed in Miss America’s unilateral decisions. Contact us and we will can help connect you to resources to help you achieve your goals.
We wish all the state and local directors and contestants the best of luck and success. We wish Miss America’s Outstanding Teen the best of luck and success.
We’ll leave it at that for the time being.
